In a short video update posted on his Facebook, Josh would complain of severe discomfort as well as experiencing symptoms of food poisoning. Josh made an appointment for the 21st with the doctor's office to be seen regarding these issues. According to a post made by Clint, on the morning of the appointment Josh had DoorDashed a Tampico—a juice that Josh would drink when feeling ill—to his trailer at 9:30. At some point between then and when Clint was to pick him up, Josh had gone for a nap and suffered a fatal heart attack.

In the same post, Clint iterated that the autopsy and toxicology report ruled out drugs and foul play, as well as noting the cause of death as a heart attack unrelated to the apparent flu or food poisoning symptoms Josh had been experiencing.

Josh's passing would spell the true end of the Cobraverse.

News of Josh's sudden and unexpected passing would shock those both in and outside of the fandom. Prominent Cobra Apostles, such as Bitesize Cobra Vids and SeizureRobot5000 eulogized Josh on their pages. Josh's passing also hit news publications such as Oil City News and The Economic Times.

A post on Reddit's r/music made the front page shortly after his passing.

Many memorial posts, fan-arts, and goodbyes from viewers were shared across the web honoring Josh.
