The Cult of Cobra, or Cobraton, is a religion that Josh started in high school. In its early days, Josh and the few adherents of the cult would practice having powers and meditating.

As Josh became more obsessed with the idea, he began creating the scripture and the symbolism of his new religion, even going so far as tattooing the symbol on his arm when he turned 18. Since then, his prescribed meaning for the tattoo has changed over the years with its religious symbolism fading away and replaced by his alleged appreciation for its aesthetic design.

Much like his symbol, the religion itself has also changed over the years, though many of its core beliefs still remain. Some of the more consistent components of this religion are a belief in magic powers, a belief in one's self as a God over a “Sky God”, and the concept of chi in the body and the ability to channel it to form chi-balls.

Cobraton, much like Christianity, has its own (un)Holy Trinity of God figures that one prays –or rather meditates– to. Where Christianity believes in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Josh similarly believes in the God (Cobraken), the Wife (Cobrissius), and the Son (Cobrero). The official colors of the religion are green and black.

According to Josh, both followers of the religion and animals are either a Cobra Angels (females) or Cobra Demons (males). The Cobra Angels and Demons have not always lived in harmony. A great battle was fought between the members of the two factions, with the Cobra Demons being victorious. Different animals also have their own brands of Angels and Demons, along with their own symbols and power levels. In Josh's Demon World, he specifically notes that Cobra Demons are more powerful than Mongoose Demons.

Prospective followers of the Cobra Cult must pledge their allegiance to Cobraken, Cobrissius and Cobrero, regularly praying to and praising them during meditation rituals. Followers are encouraged, but not required, to either tattoo themselves with the symbol. the placement is not strictly designated, however Josh suggests that it helps if the females put the brand on their left arm and males on the right arm as he has. Of course, followers also can purchase some of Josh's merch in addition to or in place of the tattoo.
