Rebirth of My Mind Decent Into Madness

Rebirth of My Mind, Decent(sic) Into Madness is the fifth album by KingCobraJFS, originally released on October 7th, 2013 on TuneCore. Another musical juggernaut of the early eras of KingCobraJFS, the entire album is 2:48:55 and features 22 tracks, making it the second longest album in Josh's discography behind The Darkness(28 tracks, approx. five hours).

Given its time of production during The Stephanie Saga, many would argue that Rebirth is the high point of Josh's personal life, and it certainly shows in the extreme levels that Josh routinely puts into his tracks. The guitar is about as coherent as it has ever been, and while the album is as always egregiously long and simultaneously under- and over-produced, one cannot deny a certain level of energy that Josh brings to this particular album. This however would come to pass, as not even a year later, the perfect life Josh was cultivating would be dashed to pieces by poor gender relations with his alive, of-age girlfriend.

The album starts off surprisingly strong with a 12-and-a-half-minute guitar solo before quickly returning to average early-age sound mixing befitting the artistic talents of Josh at the time. Rebirth does have a slight upgrade over previous albums, as although the vocals and instrumentation remain poorly balanced, the “artist” has eschewed a bass or drum backing track in some tracks(namely Shallow Lies and Rainstorms of Nagitivity)to let his skill on guitar shine through with a generic gothic-sounding ambient track to assist in setting the overall tone with his early tracks.

Perhaps the most experimental of all the tracks on Rebirth is “King Cobra Wave”, which gives the album much of its extruded run time and is half an hour of what basically amounts to white noise.
