The Wendy's where Josh worked

Wendy's is an American fast-food chain that is famous for its square burgers, frosties, baked potatoes, and chili. The chain prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer, including hiring and providing support for special needs persons to perform their jobs.

Josh and Wendy's

After getting kicked out of Job Corps, Josh was able to find employment with Wendy's as a lobby attendant while he appealed his expulsion. Josh enjoyed his job and got along well with his co-workers and managers. Being the first real job that Josh had, he would find himself struggling to manage his time, work/life balance, and especially his finances.

As time went by, work wore on Josh and he'd vent more frustrations about his job and co-workers. He talked about upset about another employee who he thought was acting condescending because Josh was not allowed to work the drive thru, having to deal with inoperable toilets and urinals, and a customer who talked down about him to her daughter. The stress and its consequences would lead to Cobra to take longer breaks from YouTube, threatening to take his life, and his stress would exacerbate his issues at work.

Struggles

At the time, Josh's new apartment was an hour walk away from Wendy's and as a result would play a role in his being late to work. This also factored in to Josh's decision to let one of his co-workers, Kent, crash at his apartment in exchange for rides to work. In addition to staying at Josh's apartment, Kent would also ask Cobra for gas money.

In the times where his tardiness was not due to oversleeping and unreliable transport, he struggled with misreading his work schedule. In a famous incident, Josh attempts to dye his hair black before he has to go into work. Mistakenly, he believed his shift started at 5 PM prompting a call from his manager when he did not show up. Josh would agree to come in at 4PM, dye stained heavily across his forehead and face.

Having real money coming in motivated Josh, and he aspired to move out of Clint's, to get off of SSI, and to buy a car and get his license. As many people do with their first jobs, Josh would end up blowing his weekly pay on non-essentials like tobacco, booze, wand making supplies, and energy drinks, without consideration for his monthly budget or savings.

Corporate was threatening to shut down the location he worked at if they received another strike. The job at Loaf N' Jug was closer and would have paid more, but after learning that corporate was not going to close the store, Josh gave up pursuing the job. Early on, Josh's income was supplemented by SSI, which he would claim that he would only use for emergencies or rent. It would later be temporarily suspended as a result of letting Couch Chris stay at his apartment and him making too much at Wendy's after they increased his hours.

Beyond his tardiness, Josh had a number of incidents at work that wore on his manager's patience. Some such incidents include being injured and sent home after slipping on ice in the parking lot and mixing up the sweetened and unsweetened tea dispensers.
