What's up fellow YouTubeers? So I accidentally mailed the contest winners package to the wrong address. They contacted me, gave me the right address and I just got off the phone with USPS customer support and I had them rescheduled and redo the delivery for as soon as possible as possible. And I had them rescheduled and redo the delivery for as soon as possible. And I gave them the proper address. I then sent the contest winner the case number for it. So there's that. Got that all squared away. Which is good. However, that's not the topic of the video this here's a rant on automated systems and you know exactly what I'm talking about you call any company on your cell phone or telephone you call a company on the phone press one if you're pissed off that you have to wait this long. Press 2 if you think this company should eat a bag of shit. Press 3 if you feel like smashing your head into a wall as hard as you can. Press 4 if you'd like to leave a complaint. Press 5 if you like to speak to a customer representative. Now if there's like 7 to 800-plus people calling in from like six to seven different areas all at once. I get that. You need a lot of human resource to manage all those calls. So sometimes having automated bullshit with some stupid ass computer and some pre-recorded voice. with some stupid ass computer and some pre-recorded voice. Sometimes it's more convenient but also more frustrating. To track a package, say package. Package. Sorry I didn't get that. To track a package, please say package. Package. Did you say stamps? Yes or no? No, I did not say stamps. To track a package, please say package. Package. Did you say customer support? No, package. package. Quite often I found myself screaming into my own cell phone because of how frustrating this is. You know what I'm saying, YouTube? And you forget for one second that the computer voice doesn't hear you. It only recognizes certain words. And if you start to get angry, the computer picks up on it and says oh this person's pissed sounds like they want to talk to a representative you seem to be having you seem to be having some difficulty would you like to talk to a customer support representative yes or no yes please wait while we try to transfer you do do do do do do cheeky elevator music do do and then they gave you this little bullshit spew there were no representatives to talk that are available right now. You can press 1 to be put on our waiting list and we will call you back as soon as possible. Or press 2 to have a text message sent to you when we can call you. Press 3 to go back to the main menu or press 4 to be put on hold while you wait on the phone. So at least they give you options. And by the time you get a hold of the customer representative, they're like, Good afternoon, my name is So and So, how can I help you today? Oh hi, so and so, how's your day going?, how's yours? Not too bad, say, and this is the thing of it. I don't care how frustrated I get with the automated bullshit. If I'm lucky enough to get transferred to a actual sales representative or customer support, what have you. I use proper telephone matters, good phone etiquette, I'm polite. Now if you're polite, if you're polite and you use good phone etiquette with the customer representatives, it makes you as a person look professional, it makes you as a person, look professional, and it makes their job a little bit easier. The thing you have to realize is it's not the customer representatives' fault, that all these companies are just all the sudden decide, Yeah, we're gonna use this automated bullshit. Wouldn't it be easier just to eliminate the automated bullshit and just cut the bullshit and go straight to the deal? You call a number, a customer representative picks up. How can we assist you today? day. But I got the window open so a little bit chilly. But here's the thing of it. Like I said, if you have a lot of people calling it at once, that's a lot of resource hours, a lot of human resource hands. So I get that. Sometimes having an automated system. It makes things easier for the company But it makes things more difficult for the customers You know it's kind of like these um these self checkouts you see you go to Albertsons or Walmart or what have you and like half the checkout calendars are replaced with these self checkouts and and like half the checkout calendars are replaced with these self-checkouts and um they added self-checkouts to make your shopping experience go quicker but it didn't do a god damn thing except take jobs out of real people's hands because even when you go to the grocery store there's still a line for self-checkout. I'm just saying. an actual cashier when I go to the grocery store. It doesn't matter if I'm going to Albertsons, Smiths, Walmart, you know. If I go to the grocery store or any store in general, I prefer to use a human to check out my items because it's just the way things have been done. and it keeps these people employed. Imagine when the self-checkouts first arrived on the scene. People got laid off. They either had to switch positions at their job or they got laid off. positions at their job or they got laid off? Could you imagine that for one second? You've been working on Walmart for three to four years and then I don't know where you have a good track record, you show up on time, actually do your job like you're supposed to. You're a good worker and your boss comes over and says, yeah, hey Tom, what's up? Can I help you? Yeah, sorry to tell you this, but we're going to have to let you go. You're firing me for what? Well, this new store policy, see we have these things called self-checkouts. And we can't afford to keep all of our checkout cashiers. So yeah, gonna have to let you go. I've been kind of just disgruntled wouldn't you? If you spent the last four years of your life busting your ass at a cashier spot at your local Walmart or Albertsons and what have you and they let you go because of self-checkout not because you're a bad worker you know know? I'd be going, what the fuck, man. But that's what happens when we decide to use technology to, quote, unquote, make our lives easier. When you go to use technology to make your life quote unquote easier you end up laying off a lot of people to make room in the company. What happens then when it's all computers? You know? When we're using computers to do a human's job. Then pretty soon there won't be very many jobs left for the humans to have. I like machines, they make our lives easier. There are cool things happening with technology. But when we let technology do our jobs for us, when we let technology make us lazier, that's when I have a problem with it. When we let technology make us lazier, when we let technology start taking our jobs as humans, that's where I draw the line. That's where I draw the line serious YouTube. When we let technology make us lazier or start replacing human jobs, That's where I draw the line. and better but only to an extent I like technology but here's the thing of it like I said YouTube when technology starts making it making us lazier when technology starts replacing human hand. You know? Technology starts taking jobs from us. Technology makes us lazier. That's when I have a thing of it. Sure as a company you might use technology to make your job easier to make it cheaper and more cost effective. The biggest reason why people would use technology versus humans is that they don't have to pay a living wage. Machines and computers and technology, they don't have to have a wage, you know. That's the biggest reason why people use computers and technology for jobs because they don't have to pay a working wage. They don't have to pay health benefits or health insurance or any of that. They don't have to sit there and say go on break. You know and that's just that's just a downside to having a human work the job you have to give them an a decent wage you have to let them go on break you have to give them some kind of benefits? Which is fine because it's a fair tradeoff. And what happens if your machine breaks while and you have a bunch of customers who were waiting for their product. Wow! That ends up slowing down your production as a company. So sometimes humans just do it better when it comes to jobs. And I know what you're gonna say. Yeah, but humans get sick. So yeah, they do, but big whoop. You know, that just means that there's always gonna be some kind of drawback to anything you do or use You know that's all that means is that there's always going to be some kind of drawback To anything you say do or use? That's life, I do not like automated machine BS. You call someone on your phone to get a hold of customer support. And you get met with this computerized bullshit. Press one for, press 2 for, you know, I… No. I think it's dumb YouTube. I think it's dumb YouTube. Well like I said let me know in the comment section below what you think. Do you agree with me? Do you think automated machines are annoying? Are they frustrating? Or do you think it makes it easier for companies to run their business? I think both. They're annoying, but they also help customers get pissed off. They do. Going through all these freaking options, press 2 for that., go on through all these freaking options, press one for this, press two for that. Boop, boop, press one for this, press two for that, press three, you know. I think it's frustrating. By the time you're done with the automated bullshit, you just want to pull your fucking hair out. You know? That's the truth of it. You want my honest opinion? Automated machines. Automated machines. Automated machines suck. Make you think you're talking to a real human but you're not? Yeah.
