Clinton Dean Saunders

Clinton “Clint” Saunders is the biological father of Josh. He is an accomplished father, photographer, business owner and educator, who puts in an effort to be present and supportive in his son's life as much as possible, despite the constant barrage of trolls, haters, sickos and their ilk. He is twice married, a self-employed photographer, and has concerningly sharp nipples.

Clint was born on the 15th of September, 1969 in Casper, Wyoming, to lovely parents Allen and Sandi Saunders. He attended Natrona County High School in 1987 and was described as an insightful and driven young man with an aptitude for the physical arts: Gymnastics.

At some point in the past, Clint married Laurel Debbie Anne Goodro and fathered Josh among two other children. In 1996, he and Laurel divorced, and somehow in the legal proceedings earned custody of the BOY.

Clint's current relationship with Josh can be considered, at best, quite strained. Josh, already being difficult to interact with in any capacity due to his bizarre behavior, also has ODD (oppositional defiant disorder). Since he views Clint as an authority figure and has a compulsive need to rebel against anyone he views this way, he is rather antagonistic in his interactions with him, despite Clint being one of the few people with Josh's best interests at heart.

Over the years, Clint has tried to be involved in Josh's life to some degree, but this is usually in vain. He has attempted to bond with him over shared interests such as woodworking, but Josh is unappreciative and uninterested in these attempts.

One of the more famed and often discussed activities is Clintervention, which, as the name implies, consists of Clint intervening, often either saving Josh from trouble, or preventing him from getting into more trouble. As it mostly happens behind the scenes, the actual confirmed clinterventions aren't that common, but anything that seems out of ordinary, when the boy begins to act strange, is often credited to Clint intervening. How tight is the leash around Josh's dog collar is a subject of endless debates, just like how good of a father Clint really has been over the years.

Clint does photo montage art, which he posts on his website, clintsaunders.com. While his art can be viewed as somewhat well-executed in terms of the application of the tools he uses, conceptually his art is extremely on the nose with its messaging, significantly taking away from the quality of his work as a whole. This directness often lacks the subtlety that separates profound commentary from heavy-handed preaching, leaving the audience little room for personal interpretation or engagement.

Thematically, his art primarily displays his inner turmoil, isolation, and feelings of being trapped. These themes are consistently made unequivocally clear across the majority of his work. He uses physical constraint and mildly torturous poses as a crude metaphor for these feelings. While the source of these feelings can't be perfectly ascertained, as not much of Clint's personal life is known outside of his involvement in the Cobraverse, it seems fairly likely that a lot of these feelings relate to his strained relationship with Josh.

Much of Clint's work also displays his pride in his own body. Clint is in good shape and apparently quite proud of that fact, and while that isn't exactly negative in its own right, when combined with his on the nose messaging, it comes across as self-absorbed and a little uncanny. The frequent inclusion of his physique can distract from the intended themes, making it seem more self-congratulatory than an artistic choice that serves the narrative or conceptual depth of his works.

Clint's work has a generally repetitive nature. Many of his compositions revolve around similar motifs and iconography, such as masks, ladders, simple otherworldly creatures, and surreal landscapes. While these elements might have been powerful in isolation, their overuse renders them predictable and diminishes their impact. His work is generally considered pretty amusing by fans of the Cobraverse, but its novelty wears thin quickly.
